It is called “Venice for Prevention,” and it is the memorandum of understanding signed between the Center for Medicine and Confcommercio Venezia to give businesses in the trade, tourism and service sectors access to subsidized benefits in terms of training, prevention screenings and direct welfare or through access to health insurance funds and funds. The goal is to strengthen the culture of prevention in the more than 2,000 member companies between Venice and the province, an area rich in business but where the culture of attention to health can still improve, especially with theopportunity offered by integrative welfare and the network of contracted facilities that work alongside public health, focusing on the prevention of both male and female cancers.
“Business today is increasingly focused on protecting the health of workers,” said Vincenzo Papes, CEO of Center for Medicine, ” both to build workerloyalty and to ensure greater occupational well-being, understanding the importance of early and rapid diagnoses, including the impact and cost to the community in public spending. As Massimo Zanon, President of Venice Metropolitan Confcommercio added: “Information, awareness and prevention are three pillars for health care, today it becomes essential to convey them in the world of work as well, with this basis this agreement dedicated to entrepreneurs, staff to their families was born.”

What does the agreement provide for? In essence , the partnership includes examinations, specialized activities, screening campaigns, dissemination meetings and awareness events aimed at workers and their close relatives, so as to encourage a virtuous practice of constant health monitoring and control. Showing a validConfcommercio membership card provides 10 percent discounted access for specialist services such as physical therapy, radiology and aesthetics at the entire network of Medicine Center in the province, in Mestre, San Donà di Piave, Mirano, Marcon and Portogruaro.
Among the planned initiatives, in addition to the care and diagnostic part, there will also be appointments on the ground dedicated to prevention. They will take place in Venice and province in attendance, focusing on promoting good practices to stay healthy, from adopting ahealthy and balanced diet, increasingphysical activity, to raising awareness of theimportance of having periodic checkups and screenings on a regular basis. These are all important elements to be made part of the everyday ruotine, given the importance of prevention on certain diseases, especially cancer. Concessions and discounts to Confcommercio members will be promoted directly at the counters of the trade association’s offices for a potential pool of about 12,000 people, with the aim of gradually extending the convention to the entire region.

“Taking care of oneself means putting the person at the center, including his or her health needs,” explains Confcommercio’s Zanon. the agreement signed with Center for Medicine, a reality rooted in the territory, goes precisely in this direction by increasing the possibility of choice and the speed of intervention, without in any way thinking of replacing public health care, but by flanking it for all those non-emergency procedures where waiting lists can discourage and cause prevention practices to slip too far. This is an innovative and modern model that meets the needs of people who have very active lives and need to capitalize on the opportunity of speed in responding to emerging needs for innovative health care“.
“In concrete terms, it is about giving an alternative while leaving maximum freedom of choice,” he adds. but especially not to leave excuses for tergiversation on checks and screening, as access is given in very dynamic facilities that provide speed and flexibility. This not only makes a contribution to individuals, but to the entire business fabric of services, which is very important for both productivity and the economy of our area. Not surprisingly, among the activities included in the agreement is the fight against misinformation fueled by fake news, to promote all-around wellness, to create a widespread culture of caring for one’s health status, since prevention is unique with the workplace“.

“Even though we are a contracted entity, as early as 12 years ago we intercepted a latent need especially in our area despite the fact that the National Health System has a very strong and entrenched presence,” points out Francesca Villa, head of the conventions and health funds office at Centro di Medicina. if private health care until a few years ago was accessible only to those who were high earners, the possibility of accessing it through insurance that covers some or all of the services has been overlooked. While at first this type of activity accounted for 2-3% for our company, after the Covid-19 interlude the demand exploded, so much so that for some exams and services today private is the first choice for many patients, thanks to the network that has been built through various agreements“.
“To explain this growth in terms of numbers processed from our facilities,” he adds. for this type of health care activities today in Veneto 48% turn to the National Health System, 42% to private and 10% to private with insurance, in a region where integrative welfare is a concept not yet very strong and consolidated, to make a comparison in our realities of Lombardy we reach 63% of accesses with insurance coverage. Our goal then is to educate people not to give up public health but to put them alongside tools, such as insurance or health insurance funds, to carry out routine activities using different services to increase practices and knowledge about prevention, freeing up resources for action on emergencies or acute cases in the public“.
